Why Do Online Casinos Have A Maximum Bet?
Casino sites operate maximum bet amounts across their range of games for a number of reasons…
The first is simply down to economics. A casino has to be able to afford a payout to any of its customers and if there is a chance that a casino would accept a bet, and then be unable to payout a customer if they won, then that would reflect badly both on that casino and the industry as a whole. Therefore, this is why different casinos operate different max bet amounts.
The second is simple… having a max bet limits stops players simply doubling their bets until they win… some high rollers would be able to break casino’s if this was possible.
As we can see from the table, the maximum bet for different types of games does differ quite considerably and so does the amount you can win. A maximum bet at blackjack for example is only ever going to see you double your money, or at best earn a 3/2 payout (R3 200 for a R2 200 stake), however on some slots (especially big progressive jackpot games like Mega Fortune and Mega Moolah) you can wager a maximum bet and win hundreds of thousands, or even millions of rand. With this in mind it makes sense to vary max bets by the bet type and payout.

Will Your Account Get Closed If You Win?
It may sound like a lovely problem to have but for serious gamblers, the fact that they could see their account closed if they win too much can have worrying implications. Especially, if they are professional gamblers and earn a living from what they can win (however this is really only a problem for sports bettors as casino’s always have built in house edge).
Of course, for the vast majority of customers, this isn’t an issue, but while the ‘official’ line from online casinos about this issue is very quiet (chiefly because they don’t want you to know), casinos do have the right to close an account, or restrict how much an individual can bet on certain games.

Can you stop account closures happening?
When a casino does close a players account, they only ever do so because they believe that player has become a financial liability to the casino due to the fact they are consistently winning or they are playing in a way, combined with a promotion, that suggests they have an edge.
So as crazy as this may sound, to avoid this happening, the only thing you can actually do is start losing or mix up your playing patterns sufficiently to disguise what you’re doing.
It’s so unlikely that you’ll ever need to do this in an online casino that it’s hardly worth thinking about. However if you’re a winning sports player and you want to keep your account open then it’s certainly a good strategy.
Limit Your Account: How To
Responsible gambling is a big issue in the online casino industry and the good news is that all reputable casinos now adhere to these principles and offer players a number of different features which will allow them to control their spending, if they feel it is getting out of control.
One of the easiest methods to use is to set Daily or Weekly Limits on how much you can deposit at a casino. Once you select this (at a level you are certain you can afford), you cannot then deposit more than this amount in the allotted timescale. You can set this up in your account settings to restrict how much you can deposit and spend.
In severe cases, you can even bar yourself temporarily from a casino, or even ban yourself from the casino completely by using settings in your account.
