This review of the Evolution slot game will take a close look at all of the slots most important elements, including its top jackpot, special symbols, the most valuable combinations of its paytable and the ways in which players can control their stake amount.

In a similar vein to most slots games, winnings are earned through Evolution when three or more identical symbols line up consecutively from left to right along the 25 pre-set paylines. The most valuable combinations are made up of a full five symbols and the highest paying symbol in this particular game is the ‘Draconius rex’ symbol.

Five of those ‘evolved’ creature symbols along a payline, offer a coin payout equal to 500 times the current bet level. At the highest bet level of ten therefore, that equates to a top jackpot of 5000 coins.

However you can win up to 44,000 coins in the Evolution feature game. Any winnings combo during free spins rounds will trigger this feature where symbols evolve into higher paying symbols resulting in the games largest possible payout.

Special Symbols

There are just two special symbols involved in gameplay for the Evolution slot, and these are the Free Spins symbol and the Wild symbol.

Free Spins Symbol:

The Free Spin symbol can appear anywhere on any reel in the main game and whenever three or more do appear after a spin, they activate free spins.

Three Free Spin symbols award a player ten free spins, four symbols provide 15 spins and five symbols offer 20. All free spins are played at the same bet level and coin value as the spin which activated them. During free spins, the game’s ‘Evolution Feature’ is active and means that symbols from winning combinations ‘evolve’ after a payout into a next level symbol. That, as a result, increases the chances of multiple payline wins per free spin.

Wild Symbol:

Wild symbols can appear anywhere on reels 2, 3, 4 or 5 during both the main game and during free spins. They substitute for all other symbols apart for the free spins symbol and will always create the most valuable winning combination possible for each payline. During free spins, Wild symbols do not evolve as a part of the ‘Evolution Feature’.

Regular Payouts/Paytable

The symbols of the Evolution slot game are all themed around different primordial entities and the more advanced creatures which they can evolve into. The most valuable of the symbols is the evolved creature called ‘Draconius rex’ and if five of these make up the entirety of a payline, the player’s reward in coins will be equal to 500 times their current bet level.

That means that at the top bet level of 10, the total jackpot for the payline would equal 5000 coins. The next most valuable symbol is the similarly evolved ‘Basilisk pluma’ creature symbol, and a winning combination of five of these pays out at an amount equal to 250 times the current bet level.

Betting Limits

Players cannot edit the number of active paylines when playing the Evolution slot but what they can do to control their betting amount, is to set both the bet level and the coin value applied to each spin. The bet level can be set from 1-10 and refers to the number of coins wagered per payline, whilst there are six separate coin values from 1p to 50p which dictate how much each coin is worth.

By setting the lowest bet level and coin value therefore, a player can stake a minimum amount of just 25p and by setting the highest of each, they can stake a maximum of R2 700. The two separate sliding scales of bet level and coin value too, allow for a great many different options between those two extremes.

Overall Review Rating

The Evolution slots game has an interesting overall theme and attractive, unique graphics but when compared with other games that are available, it disappoints somewhat when it comes to actual gameplay features and to the available jackpot.

The game does offer free spins, which with the ‘Evolution Feature’ can be quite lucrative for players, but this is the only real feature beyond the main game. That makes the gameplay of Evolution more simplistic and potentially more dull than that offered by many other slots.

Evolution could make up for that less exciting gameplay with a really generous top jackpot, but unfortunately the slot’s highest payout is actually rather average at best. Whilst the slot does give players good control over their stake amount therefore, it doesn’t deliver either the most interesting gameplay or the most impressive payouts.
