Choosing to offer 243 ways to win rather than using traditional paylines, Twin Spin is a slot game which takes a little explaining. Our full review will attempt to do so by focussing upon its top jackpot, special symbols, paytable and betting limits.

Top Jackpot

Matching symbols in any position on three or more adjacent reels consecutively from left to right results in a coin win through Twin Spin.

Only the longest winning combination for each symbol is paid and the size of the win is determined by the symbol’s paytable value multiplied by the bet level and then by the number of matching symbols which appear on each of the reels involved in the combination.

The most valuable combinations are those made up of five symbols and the most valuable symbol is the diamond symbol. That symbol’s paytable value is 1000 times the bet level for a five symbol combination and therefore can result in a jackpot of 10,000 coins at the top bet level of ten.

That jackpot could then be enhanced further, however, up to the game’s stipulated maximum of 270,000 coins depending upon how many more diamond symbols appear on the reels for that particular spin. At the maximum coin value of 50p, that highest possible jackpot of 270,000 coins is worth R2 916 500.

Paytable

The 243 ways to win element of Twin Spins is its main feature but it does also have one special symbol in the shape of a traditional wild and an additional feature known as its Twin Reel Feature.

Special Symbols

Wild Symbol – The game’s wild symbol can appear anywhere on reels two, three, four or five and substitutes for all other symbols in order to make the most valuable possible winning combinations.

Each Twin Spins spin starts with identical adjacent twin reels which are linked together. The position of these reels is random and for any spin they can also randomly expand to become triplet, quadruplet or quintuplet reels to essentially guarantee big payouts.

Regular Symbols

Each symbol within the Twin Spins slot is assigned a paytable value for three, four and five symbol combinations. That value is multiplied by the bet level and by the total number of identical symbols on each reel of a winning combination to determine the total payout for the combination.

The most valuable symbol of all is the diamond symbol, which has a paytable value of 1000 for a five symbol combination.

If a five diamond combination appears when bet level ten is set, therefore, it will result in a jackpot of 10,000 multiplied by the number of diamonds appearing on each of the reels – up to a maximum of 270,000 coins.

The next most valuable symbol in the game is the ‘7’ symbol which has a paytable value of 500 and at the top bet level can result in a payout of 5,000 times the number of ‘7s’ on each of the reels – once again up to a maximum of 270,000 coins.

Betting Limits

The way in which Twin Spins players can control how much they bet per spin is by setting their bet level and coin value. Coin value decides how much a coin is worth for a spin and there are seven available values from 1p to R20.

Bet level dictates how many coins are bet per spin and there are ten different levels from 1-10, each of which adds an extra 25 coins to the stake.

That means that the minimum possible stake per spin is just 25p and can be chosen by setting a 1p coin value and bet level one (25 coins).

The maximum stake, meanwhile, is R2 700 and can be selecting by setting a 50p coin value and bet level ten (250 coins).

What We Think

Twin Spins is undoubtedly an interesting slot thanks to its innovative use of 243 ways to win rather than traditional paylines. Once you have got past that novelty, however, the game largely disappoints in comparison to other slots which are available.

The way in which winning amounts are decided by using the 243 ways to win method is quite complicated and the fact that the stipulated 270,000 coin jackpot is actually lower than the theoretical top jackpot that could be won is also a little puzzling.

On the plus side, however, that 270,000 coin top payout – which can be worth up to R2 916 500 – is unquestionably a generous jackpot which compares well with the highest payouts offered by other slots.

Where this slot surprisingly disappoints most, however, is in terms of the overall gameplay. The twin reels feature is potentially beneficial to players but doesn’t add a great deal of excitement, and beyond that feature there are only traditional wild substitutions by way of added features.

That makes Twin Spins a very simplistic slot that would likely get very boring, very fast.
